The Florida Department of Children and Families, TANF Substance Abuse and Mental Health Office, has contracted with the Florida State University, Academic & Professional Program Services, Mental Health and Substance Abuse Integrated Training Center, to provide information and training materials related to mental health and substance abuse. Materials and training placed on this website have two purposes.

    1. To provide information for the general public on a variety of topics covering mental health and substance abuse, and
    2. To provide training and best practice information for certain contracted providers of supports and services who serve TANF participants and/or family members who may be at risk for mental health or substance abuse conditions or who currently have mental health or substance abuse conditions.

Currently, the Training Center is developing training and informational materials on the following topics:

As the materials are developed, they can be used by people wanting more information on certain topics. Identified staff who serve TANF participants will need to review certain training modules to ensure they are familiar with required materials such as the Overview of Mental Health, Overview of Substance Abuse, the Overview of Supported Employment and Strengths-Based Approach. Certain TANF staff will be required to take a short quiz at the end of each required training module to demonstrate their understanding of the topic content.

A complete description of each training module will be located on this website as it is developed.
